The Politics Actuary #13: Working Party Inception
by Patrick Lee on 14 Apr 2026 in categories actuarial with tags cartoonsFour volunteer actuaries are seated around a table. It is Meeting #14 of the Working Party on the Governance of Working Parties. The agenda is three items long. The first is a review of terms of reference. The second is a proposal to form a sub-working party on reporting. The third is a date for the next meeting — at which the formation of a steering group will be discussed.
Nobody in the room is surprised by any of this. Everyone has a thick ring-binder. Everyone has a cooling coffee. The whiteboard is fresh, because the whiteboard from Meetings #1 through #13 ran out of space.
Their first recommendation will be to form a sub-committee.
The professional-body satire strand continues in The Politics Actuary sequence. Previous entry in this strand: #4 Transparency Request.
